Bodegas Parxet

In 1920 the first bottles of Parxet cava were launched onto the market, produced using the méthode champenoise at Mas Parxet, where wines had already been produced since the 18th century. The name Parxet comes from the French parchet which, according to the dictionary of the International Vine and Wine Office, means small piece of vineyard (petit morceau de vignoble). This denomination is very appropriate since the vineyards are usually smallholdings. It was born with the splendour of Noucentisme, a cultural and humanist movement that began in Barcelona at the beginning of the 20th century, and has been consolidated by the hand of a cosmopolitan and international Barcelona.

The Parxet Winery (Cava) is located in the village of Tiana, 20 km from Barcelona, and together with Bodegas Tionio (Ribera del Duero and Rueda), Raventós d'Alella (Alella and Penedés) and Bodegas Basagoiti (Rioja), it belongs to the Gleva Estates group.

The closest production area to the city is 20 km north of Barcelona, within the Alella Denomination of Origin, a traditional area of origin for great white wines. It is characterised by two microclimates, a warmer maritime one and a cooler inland one, which allows the production of fresh, deep and very balanced wines.

The soil is built by the typical sauló, a granite rock that allows a good percolation of water from the storms characteristic of the area, and also allows the development of a very extensive root system suitable to withstand periods of drought. The native grape variety is Pansa Blanca, a distinctive feature of the Parxet cavas. The other growing area that complements an important part of the coupage is the Montargull estate in Sant Sebastià del Gorgs in the Penedés wine region. This historic estate completes Parxet's exciting winemaking project and guarantees the future of its proposal.
