* The family project of Bodegas La Tapada was founded in 1985 by the Guitián brothers. Protected under the Valdeorras denomination, the winery located in the municipality of Rubiá de Valdeorras has an area of 12 hectares, 10 hectares are dedicated to the cultivation of the indigenous Godello variety, while the rest of the surface is mostly destined to the building of elaboration, built in 1995, as well as a forest of chestnut trees in the northern part of the farm.
The Godello vineyard was planted in 1985 from a very old and prefiloxeric clone. The soil where the vineyard sits is sloping to the south, with a slope between 10 to 15 percent. Geologically they come from high quality Ordovician slates for vineyard cultivation, unlike the lower areas composed of shales and slates siluricas. The earth is dark brown, with abundant presence of thick elements from the parent rock (shale), relatively deep, clay-silty texture and well drained.
The winemaker Pepe Hidalgo together with the collaboration of the winemaker Ana Martín are responsible for the development of the winery's wines since its foundation.
