Bodegas Basilio Izquierdo

Bodegas Basilio Izquierdo is the personal project of Basilio Izquierdo, a winemaker who comes from La Mancha and, since arriving in La Rioja, has devoted his whole life to his vineyards and the making of quality wine.

Technical director at C.V.N.E for over thirty years and architect of the Viñedos del Contino start-up, Basilio was one of the central figures in the technical revolution of Rioja wine and a steadfast supporter of tradition and champion of the need to return to the coupage of classic varieties.

(The winery began its operations under the name of Bodegas Águila Real.)
