Saget La Perrière is a family-run winery in the Loire Valley that has been involved in wine-growing for nine generations. Hailing from Pouilly-sur-Loire, the legendary area of the world's greatest Sauvignon Blancs, the Sagets decided to extend their reach to the entire upper Loire region, along both sides of the river, discovering real gems that are now part of their wine catalogue.
.
Laurent and Arnaud, the Jean-Louis’s sons, are now at the helm of the many estates along the Loire that the family has acquired over time. The Saget style is clean and full of character, oriented towards producing wines with strong identities, which express, also and above all over time, the unique characteristics of their terroir: fresh, balanced wines with perfect aromatic character. Working with high standards and passion in their respect of the soil, the Saget family has installed in the magnificent setting of the Domaine de Terres Blanches one of the jewels in the crown of its terroir of origin, managing to transcend the mineral expression of the white wines and the delicacy of the red wines.
.
The Domaine de Terres Blanches, located in Sancerre, produces three appellations in the Centre of the Loire, mineral and pure wines made from the Sauvignon grape: Pouilly-Fumé, Sancerre and Coteaux du Giennois. The Pouilly-Fumé comes from a vineyard planted on clay-limestone soil made up of Kimmeridgian marls. Vinification is carried out in the traditional way, aimed at preserving the primary aromas of Sauvignon enriched by the mineral sensations typical of the terroir. The wine remains for at least six months on its lees, from which it receives body and substance.
.
This Pouilly-Fumé has a beautiful golden colour with greenish highlights when young. A genuine, eco-sustainable wine, it offers a subtle, delicate nose with aromas of flint, golden apple, thyme, jasmine and acacia flowers. There is also a slight fruity tendency that veers towards lemon peel and white peach, but without covering the vibrant mineral note, which will evolve over time. These aromas are echoed on the palate in an acidic framework rich in freshness, with an excellent balance and a full and very long finish, with distinct sapidity.
