The wine

Pago Mota is an elegant Chardonnay produced from vines growing in Malagón (Ciudad Real). Hand-picked at their ripest, the best grapes are carefully chosen at a selection table before being gently and slowly pressed to maintain their freshness. The must is decanted naturally during the night and the wine is then deposited in new French oak barrels where it will spend the next six months. The alcoholic fermentation takes place here in this new oak with a little work on the lees towards the end. To ensure an elegant result, the wine is only transferred once during all the process.

At Bodegas Arzuaga they understand that tradition and innovation must go hand in hand. For this reason, while continuing to produce classic wines, they also innovate and create new reference wines like Pago Mota, a wine named after a small kind of sparrow which lives in the wild brambles. Hard to see, but wonderfully unique, just like the wine.

Its youth is appreciated in the yellow, slightly greenish colour. As we lift the glass, intense aromas with fascinating citric notes delight the nose. On drinking, it is not at all a heavy wine, rather a fresh moreish one offering sensations more reminiscent of central European wines. Unctuous and pleasant in the mouth, its optimal acidity blends well with the wine's structure.

Pago Mota pairs perfectly with all kinds of fish dishes – fried, raw, marinated or grilled. It is also a perfect drink to share while chatting with friends or as an aperitif. A dynamic wine ideal for drinking any day thanks to its price. Carefree and easy to drink – to sum up, a versatile, cheerful and fun wine.

Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro

Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro

Founded in the early 90s by the Arzuaga Navarro family, the winery that bears his name stands near the Duero river, on the road that connects Soria with Valladolid. The building is a song to the stone, a solid and rustic monastic evocation, with its arcades, its towers and the bell tower. It was Florentino Arzuaga, a great wine lover, who founded Bodegas Arzuaga-Navarro after buying Finca La Planta, located in the Valladolid town of Quintanilla de Onésimo. Then came the...
