The wine

The winery, strictly family-run, is a unique property created by the Marengo family in 1899 which is now very successfully managed by Marco in tandem with his wife Eugenia all on his own after his father Mario passed aw ay in 2001. The vineyard is only 7 hectares. The work is centred on the integrated management of vineyards and reduced cellar intervention. The style, placed between territorial strength and expressivity, is based on the production of elegant and fruity wines with short maceration times and ageing in small wood.

What does this wine taste like?

The Barolo, yet again, a top-notch common and full appellation, due to its value for money, its rich and precious aroma, with notes of red fruit, herbs, incense, toast and jams, and a palate that is uncompromisingly juicy, harmonious, tasty. At the sight it has a bright red color with shades that vary to garnet in youth, with the passage of time it becomes ruby red with orange reflections. Fruity notes of ripe fruit alternate with floral scents and spicy aromas deriving from aging; going to compose a rich and intense aromatic bouquet. The taste is dry in the mouth and particularly pleasant.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker

This wine draws its fruit from the Serradenari, Boiolo, Fossati and Roncaglie vineyards in La Morra. The M. Marengo 2017 Barolo achieves a level of immediate elegance and balance that was by no means easy to achieve in this challenging and hot vintage. The Marengo family has successfully harnessed the floral and more graceful side of the vintage fruit, with wild berry and powdered licorice. You do feel the youthful tannic tightness in this release, so give this wine a few extra years to unwind and soften. This was a release of 10,700 bottles.
