The wine

The Brunello younger sibling is obtained from Sangiovese grapes deriving from the winery's best vineyards. After they've undergone a double fermentation, the wine ages for a year in second-use casks and large Slovenian oak barrels. The result of this careful production process is a red that's particularly smooth, balanced and easy to drink. The context, a seventeenth-century villa surrounded by cypresses, olive groves and rows of vines, helps you to conjure up a place in which the winemaking has persisted since 1581. Indeed, there is more to the Argiano range than the top wines, and showcases the highest qualitative excellence in the sublime Suolo and the international Non Confunditur, but also in the young and agile Rosso di Montalcino.

Argiano Rosso shares with the Brunello the elegance infused by the Montalcino terroir and the generous characteristics of the Sangiovese, but in this case it's more fruit-forward, immediate and lively than its older sibling. On the nose it exhibits well-defined aromas of red fruits and violets on a sound, earthy and balsamic background. On the palate it appears expressive, fresh, balanced and with a velvety texture. A rounded composition which becomes even more irresistible in the warm summer months.

From an informal barbecue with friends to the most classy dinner party, Argiano Rosso di Montalcino accompanies to perfection a great variety of dishes and brings a distinctive elegance to the occasion.

Argiano

In a complex phase of change of ownership, Argiano is retaining exceptional quality levels, as evidenced by the acknowledgments which year after come in thick and fast. Some of the best exposed Montalcino plots, which benefit from a particularly favourable microclimate at around 300 metres altitude, have produced a classic, powerful, fascinating and balanced Brunello.
