Negroamaro
Negroamaro is the most representative red grape of Salento. Of unknown origin, its name alludes to the intensity of its colour, even if negroamaro is responsible for some of the greatest Italian rosés, of which Salento is the land of choice. Vigorous and very productive, it gives a rosé with a strong, rather intense colour, with clearly distinguishable aromas of fresh red fruit, berries, dog rose and, in the most selected versions - sometimes partially aged in wood - sweet spices, jams and vanilla. The taste is juicy, caressing and very persistent. Vinified red, it reveals a certain rusticity, with notes of prune, tobacco, coffee, not very pronounced tannin and good softness, for a structure that tends to muscular. It is vinified as a single variety or in blends with malvasia near from Salento, which gives it greater aromatic richness.
