Grignolino
A grape typical of the hills of lower Piedmont, grignolino has always been produced as a light, lively, often sparkling, vinous, fruity and pleasant to drink red wine. Today it is widespread especially in the northern hills of the Asti and Casale areas, where it coexists with Barbera and other typical grapes of the area. Vinified in Monferrato DOC Rosso blends, it has been discovered to be of good temper also as a single variety red of a certain carat. The best versions, in fact, from old vineyards, are able to withstand, with excellent results, a little ageing in wood, opening the way to a new and more austere interpretation of the variety.
