Bosco

The bosco is considered the most representative white grape of the Cinque Terre, actually, the real backbone of the wines of this magical territory. Originally from Riomaggiore, bosco, quite vigorous and late, is cultivated on the steep terraces of the area, among ancient dry-stone walls and monorails. With its low acidity and rather flat fragrances, it is normally vinified not as a single variety, but with the improvement of albarola and, from an aromatic point of view, of vermentino. Nevertheless, its vigour makes it particularly suitable for the typical wines of the area, i.e. macerated wines, both white, with clearly salty, iodine, and mineral notes, thyme and rosemary, and also sweet ones, with Sciacchetrà, of which it represents the sapid and structured backbone.
