The wine

The Cuvée Théo is dedicated to the legendary Théo Faller, who during the 20th century became one of the great contributors to the success of Alsatian wine. It is the straightest and most immediate Riesling from Domaine Weinbach, a historic winery built by the Capuchins in 1612 and still one of the most significant in Alsace. The vineyard, which covers 28 hectares on the granite, limestone-chalk and marl soils of the Kaysersberg Valley, is farmed biodynamically. The style of the Domaine works on fruit and concentration, but also cleanliness and elegance. Aged in old oak barrels and vinified with only indigenous yeasts, the Riesling Cuvée Théo offers a delightful bouquet of white flowers against a backdrop of citrus fruits. On the palate it is dense, balanced and expressive, with a ripe acidity that prolongs its persistence and freshness.

It's located at the foot of the Schlossberg hill and owes its name, Weinbach ('wine brook'), to the small river which passes through the estate. In 1898 the winery was acquired by the Faller brothers, who then passed it on to Théo, their son and nephew. Théo become an eminent figure in the Alsace...
