Vito Catania and Salvo Foti are the two important names of Gulfi. This historical winery has made Nero d'Avola its great organic international flagship wine. Now, after Vito Catania's passing, the winery's challenge is immortalised in wines of perfect enological quality, which amaze due to their innovative and dynamic calibre. Sapling vineyards and strictly manual processing are the cornerstones that retain a very close link with the territoriality of Chiaromonte-
Vigna Coste, with about 4 hectares, is the largest vineyard in the municipality, overlooking the Iblei mountains in the Ragusa area. The average altitude is 420 m a.s.l., with east-west exposure. The climate is temperate, characterised by mild winters and dry summers. All the right conditions for a typical and representative Nero d'Avola, full-bodied, rich, but elegant and subtle at the same time.
A beautiful deep, lively and consistent ruby red in colour, the aroma includes a range of various, complex, incisive and powerful complex scents. What stands out is sensations of Morello cherry and jammy plum, rosehip, black pepper and cloves. And then, the finish, we even sense leather and liquorice, mint, undergrowth and bay leaf. Warm and soft, elegant and enveloping, it has a good tannic quality and a typical deep and fruity persistence, enlivened by a pleasant freshness.

Medium bodied juicy red
Medium bodied wine with a bit of punch, so would need to be enjoyed with a bit of food. Have drunk this wine twice in the last year. First time I loved it. Second time I found that it had almost too much of ripe fruit for my liking. Others at the table loved it, however.

Not your run-of-the- mill Nero D'Avola!
A smooth intense red from Southern Sicily which is a great value for it delivers. I drank it at the vineyard early this year for the first time and it has been love at first sight!

A very nice wine, a must try
A good wine for a good price. Earthy with notes of tobacco, spices, and figs. Some nice tanins there but not too much. Recommend going for this
