Falesco's history began its course in 1979, when the two most famous brothers in Italian winemaking, Renzo and Riccardo Cotarella, founded this winery in Montefiascone, a small town in the province of Lazio from which they expanded their operations, twenty years later, to the south of Orvieto, in the neighbouring region of Umbria.
In the production of their wines, the Cotarellas have always paid attention to the special characteristics of the terroir and in addition introduced the most modern technology. In both the vineyard and the winery, Renzo and Riccardo consider it essential to experiment and innovate, opting for avant-garde techniques to revitalise traditional wine-making methods and to create modern wines which suit the tastes of present-day consumers. Vitiano can be regarded as the emblematic example of this philosophy: a young, versatile wine which, since its first vintage in 1995, has constantly been singled out by the international wine press because of its excellent price-quality ratio.
Produced at the winery's site in Umbria, Vitiano is made from a coupage, using the same proportions of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. The three varieties are harvested at different times (the Merlot in early September and the other two at the end of the same month), and the vinification process occurs separately until their malolactic fermentation (in casks) after blending the wines together.
The wine that results is lively and juicy, aromatic and very easily drinkable. A deep ruby-red colour, Vitiano exudes intense fruit-charged aromas (ripe cherries, black fruits) and whiffs of bitter cocoa, enhanced by other notes of aromatic herbs, of the evergreen Mediterranean maquis, and minerals. Supple in structure, it glides on the palate with complete ease, and freshness, having a moderate alcohol content and with a finish of spicy hints and cherry liqueur.

VIN ROUGE S'ADAPTANT A DE NOMBREUX PLATS
EXCELLENT, PARTICULIEREMENT POUR TOUTES VIANDES ROUGES. BIEN QUE SA TENEUR EN DEGREs NE SOIT PAS IMPORTANTE, IL LAISSE EN BOUCHE UNE IMPRESSION DURABLE.

Falesco - Famiglia Cotarella
Wine is the sap that has fed the Cotarella family tree for generations in their passion for creating the link between the land and feelings. They have a firmly rooted history of winemaking, yet are open to the innovation of new ideas and the appearance of new projects. The link between the Cotarella family and the world of wine began in the 1960s when Antonio and Domenico Cotarella, winegrowers in Monterubiaglio, decided to build a winery to produce...
