The wine

A 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) wine produced by Bodega Santa Eulalia at La Horra, the Frutos Villar family’s estate of 210 hectares in the Ribera del Duero region.

The wine appears a bright, garnet red colour of medium to high depth. It releases a complex aroma with elegant hints of ripe fruit, especially blackberries, along with balsamic and toasty notes conveying fine oak wood. It offers an open, tasty and meaty palate with mineral undertones and toasty notes, plus a good balance between acidity and alcohol.

Aged in 90% American and 10% French oak barrels for 14 months, and racked every 3 months. With subsequent rest in bottle for a further 8 months in a temperature-controlled underground cellar before release.

Bodega Calderona, their second winery, was set up in Cigales in 1960 and has 105 hectares of vineyards, producing wines which...
