The wine

La Croix Montlabert is the second label from Château Montlabert, an estate founded back in 1750 and acquired by the Castel family in 2008. Committed to ensuring the best quality of their wines, the winery counts on the advice and knowledge of the prestigious oenologist and owner of Château Angélus Hubert de Boüard. He collaborates in the constant improvement and refinement of the winery's production, giving as much care and attention to this La Croix as to its sibling, the winery's first wine, Château Montlabert.

La Croix Montlabert is a delectable blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, as is only to be expected from a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, home to famous names such as Ausone, Angélus, Pavie and Cheval Blanc. The fruitiness of Merlot and the complexity and structure of Cabernet Franc combine to produce a magnificent quality wine offering great value for money. A relatively unknown wine at present which deserves a place among the list of great names from this appellation.

What does this wine taste like?

It displays a deep ruby-red colour with claret glints. Youthful and expressive in the nose with concentrated aromas of red fruits, cassis and a touch of vanilla. As it stands in the glass, the aromas become more intense and combine with subtle notes of tobacco leaves to create a very expressive bouquet. A medium-bodied wine, it delights the mouth with flavours of smooth and juicy fruit, and well-integrated flavoursome tannins. And all wrapped up in a splendidly balanced wine with a powerful finish.
