Description

The history of this single malt from Bruichladdich is quite intriguing and its name could translate as the second edition follow-up of the "Weapons of Mass Destruction" and "Yellow Submarine" series.

According to the distillery's own account, there was a "first edition" in memory of an unexpected visit from American CIA agents, inspectors of the famous weapons of mass destruction, which proved a great success (WMD - The Weapons Inspectors). So popular did it become that they had no hesitation in repeating the experience with a new edition after a second mysterious event: the discovery, by an Islay fisherman, of a yellow submarine floating under Atlantic waters, about 7 miles off the coast of Bruichladdich. The submarine belonged to Britain's Ministry of Defence and was decked out with high-tech surveillance equipment.

That may have appeared completely out of the blue, but the quality of this product will come as no surprise – and only as we might expect from this prestigious distillery: a Bruichladdich which, after having been distilled in 1991, has spent 14 years peacefully ageing inside oak wine barrels from Rioja.

Golden yellow in colour, it exudes aromas of vanilla, orange marmalade, cherries, red-berry fruits and rose petals. It is medium-bodied, with a sweet, fruity texture, spirited, showing touches of wood and long-lasting on the palate.
