The wine

A genuine French connection with this wine, named after an inspirational wine bar in Paris, run by Tim Johnston, a Scot and staunch supporter of Rhône valley varietals - grown to great effect too in the Barossa Valley. The label was specially designed by Tim’s daughter, Carolyn, whose artistic talent is on display in the bar.

This unoaked blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 20% Mataro (the Australian Mourvèdre) comes from 40 to 150 year-old vines harvested in April. The fruit from each vineyard was fermented separately, with assemblage in tank followed by natural malolactic fermentation. The wine was bottled in December without filtration or fining.

Fragrant and intense on the nose, offering dark fruit aromas, the palate reveals notes of blackberries, cherries, spices and minerals with fine tannins and fresh acidity. Ready to drink now, it will certainly reward with extra time in cellar.
