The wine

A single varietal Monastrell originating from the Pago El Sorchantre plot (on the Finca Usaldón estate, Villena), a terroir with calcareous soil covered with stones and pebbles and low in organic material.

Fermented and aged in large clay jars and without racking, the result is a wine with an elegant bouquet: ripe red fruit, thyme, rosemary, lavender, balsamic notes, liquorice, India ink... On the palate it proves long and profound, with ripe tannins and a hint of woodiness, and a display of succulent ripe fruits. Powerful, saline and mineral. Ideal for accompanying red meats, stews and hearty soups.

NOTE: The Rafa Bernabé wines have been produced with minimum intervention, vinified with hardly any handling and in the most natural way possible, without the addition of sulphur and with yeasts from the actual vineyard, and they have not been clarified or filtered. Such a natural production process can result in the wine showing some cloudiness or sediment, and specifically in some vintages more than others. It is therefore advisable to keep the bottle in an upright position for several hours before serving.
