The wine

B de Basilio is a unique Rioja wine. It is made using a higher percentage of the Garnacha Blanca variety, whose cultivation and vinification has become virtually nominal in the region. This Garnacha is harvested at its optimum point of ripeness in its vineyard location of Gallocanta, in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, and a lesser amount of Viura is added to it.

The wine is fermented in new Burgundy barrels, after whole grape pressing (“Champenoise” style) which seeks to maximise the special characteristics of elegance and refinement that this highly distinctive variety contains. One of his secrets is the work done with the lees: “batonnage” is carried out over a period of six months until the desired roundness and stability is obtained for describing the wine as a “wine for cellaring”.

This is a serious wine, individual, clean, with complex and very delicate aromas that swiftly open up and amplify in the glass. With very fine notes of good wood, it is smooth, silky, delicate and lengthy on the palate, as well as being complex and elegant.

Fermented on its lees in new Burgundy barrels.
