Petit Manseng

A Gascon grape from Jurançon, the French Atlantic Pyrenees, petit manseng has small thick-skinned berries. It produces, therefore, very little must, so much so that in France it is considered excellent for withering or late harvesting, and in this guise it gives some of the most appreciated sweet wines of the territory. In Italy, thanks to the gentler climate, it also expresses itself well as a dry single-variety white wine, especially in Agro Pontino and Maremma, although lately it has found a favourite territory in Alto Adige. Shiny straw-yellow in colour, very intense and spicy bouquet, on the palate it reveals excellent acidity, pronounced minerality and very good structure. In Italy too, especially in Tuscany, it is vinified in late harvest "French style", as is the case with Ornus dell'Ornellaia.
