Catarratto

More than a vine, catarratto is a family of vines, of which the most prized variety is the shiny white one. Catarratto is one of the most typical and widespread white varieties of Sicily outside of Etna. Abundant in productivity, catarratto has been in Sicily since time immemorial and has adapted well to all the areas of the island, so much so that it is the first variety in quantity in the region and the second in Italy after Trebbiano Toscano. The wine is characterised by high acidity and mainly floral aromatic notes, although not without mineral puffs linked to the frequent proximity to the seaSapid and dry, on the palata it is quite persistent. It expresses itself well both as a single variety and in blends with local grape varieties such as cricket and inzolia, or international ones such as chardonnay.
