The wine

Añadas Frías is a very special white wine made by Bodegas y Viñedos Pujanza with the best Viura variety grapes. The vines providing the fruit are planted at an altitude of more than 600 metres on soils that have a high chalk content and enjoy a very particular climate. In truth, this wine is made every year, but it's only released in cool vintage years, when its acidity reaches levels more commonly found in northern regions like Chablis.

It doesn't undergo malolactic fermentation and its 6 months of ageing takes place in new French oak barrels. On the nose, it emanates strong aromas of iodine and hydrocarbons, aromas usually associated with the great whites of northern Europe. The fruit and the oak play secondary roles in its aromatic component, since minerality and the terroir factor are the true key elements of this wine. Its tannins are elegant and chalky, and its acidity is citrusy. Savoury, saline, striking. A wine to keep for an eternity and retain in the memory.

Bodegas y Viñedos Pujanza

Bodegas y Viñedos Pujanza is located within the municipality of Laguardia, at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria, in a really beautiful part of the Rioja Alavesa, on the edge of the vine-growing region. Pujanza started out on its path in 1998, under the direction of Carlos San Pedro, descended from a family of vine growers with three generations of experience accumulated over time. Those very first bottles made on the family's premises held a unique wine which featured the...
