Young red. Vinos La Traca Valencia, Spain Bobal, Tempranillo
Bottle: 5.72 € club members / 5.95 € non-members
Its colour is intense, a dark Picota cherry shade, and bright, while on the nose it exudes sweet, refreshing notes on a spicy background that enhances the power of the fruit, like a sprinkling of salt on food. A similar scene on the palate: intense, balanced, structured, light yet with some presence, polished. A wine for fiestas and parties, any get-together, for drinks and barbecues, easily drinkable and with a fairly moderate alcohol content of 13.5%, which is good news too.

Red Crianza. Bodega Rafael Cambra Valencia, Spain Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre
Bottle: 8.62 € club members / 9.95 € non-members
Its entry on the palate is supple, and it maintains that freshness and ripe-fruit intensity on the nose. With a controlled but evident powerfulness, a good tannic structure, and medium-bodied, it proves a juicy wine inviting you to take another sip; it presents a good balance between sweetness and acidity, offering just the level of succulence. Rounding off its flavour profile are some spicy notes of wild shrubs, traces of well-integrated new wood and mild peppery hints. Then again, if we keep hold of the wine in the mouth, India ink notes become apparent; yet its character is definitely that of an Iberian wine, confirming its roots in those two international varieties; on tasting blind, it comes over as a Southern Mediterranean wine, with “classic” undertones that might just keep us wondering.
A wine to set us thinking, for drinking and enjoying without hindrance, an accessible and most attractive wine.

Red Crianza. Bodega Mustiguillo El Terrerazo, Spain Bobal
Bottle: 20.51 € club members / 23.30 € non-members
Bodega Mustiguillo, headed up by Toni Sarrión, demonstrates with this wine that Bobal too can be used to produce good and great wines. They prove it with Finca Terrerazo and, in case anyone should have any doubts, with their Quincha Corral, which is outside the reach of most, not only due to its price but also because of the scant number of bottles available for sale. The rusticity with which we usually associate this indigenous variety of the Utiel region (Valencia) is converted here into elegance: ripe black fruit (blackberries), woodland aromas (heather, thyme), balsamic, mineral and smoky notes (incense, tobacco).
Finca Terrerazo is also smooth and creamy on the palate, fresh and pleasant, with mineral touches, mature and fruit-driven. Its velvety texture is lusciously rich in the mouth and its powerfulness comes over elegantly. Most definitely the wine to choose should you need to convince someone of the Bobal's potential, a fine wine which will indeed be thoroughly enjoyed.
