Troplong Mondot is, with virtually complete certainty, the winery with the most promising future in the Saint-Emilion region, and this may well be true for the whole Bordeaux region.
Since the 2005 vintage, in every successive vintage, it has produced wines of an extraordinary quality, equalling the standard of the finest. It would not be surprising if, in the next classifications, this Château were to be elevated to the first level, that of Premier Grand Cru Classé A, alongside the prestigious Ausone and Cheval Blanc. In the mean time, its status as “second category” enables us to enjoy it at a more “affordable” price, and that makes it one of the best bets in terms of price-quality among the great Bordeaux wines.
In the opinion of the American wine critic, Robert Parker, the best Troplong Mondot vintages have been 2005 and 2009. These two magnificent wines have captivated, with their exquisite elegance, all those who have had the good fortune to try them.
Troplong Mondot 2005 is, undoubtedly, one of the great wines of Bordeaux with a better price-quality relationship. If you are able to do so, don’t allow yourself even a moment’s hesitation.
