Almirez is produced from Tinta de Toro grapes grown in vineyards aged 15-35 years old on average and situated in Valdefinjas and Toro (Zamora), with yields of 20 hl/ha.
Summary of Marcos Eguren’s comments on the vintage: « Broadly speaking, the 2008 harvest has been very short in the older vineyards and below par in the younger ones, but in all cases there were clusters with small berries, loose, healthy and of a high quality (27th September was the day harvesting began, which was about 8 days later than normal). »
Malolactic fermentation in barrel (30% in new barrels). Aged for 12 months in new (30%) and one fill (70%) French oak barrels.
