The parcels situated on higher ground have been chosen for the production of this rosé, where the temperatures are cooler and help to preserve the aromas and acidity, as well as offering the opportunity for the grapes to ripen properly. This has resulted in a lively wine, with acidity and body nicely balanced, exactly as planned by wine-maker, Julián Chivite: “My idea was a new rosé, a new concept in wine; a fresh rosé, with plenty of body and personality, balanced and suitable for drinking right the way through a meal”.
The Merlot originates from Tierra Estella, from 19 year-old vines, planted on trellises in clay-chalk soils with yields of 5,500 kilos per hectare. The Garnacha comes from the Valle de Aibar, grown on bush vines aged over 37 years old in clay-chalk soils, with a considerable amount of gravel in places and yields of 5,000 kg/ha.
A lively, bright raspberry colour, this wine comes over fresh and very clean on the nose, revealing aromas of strawberries, redcurrants and raspberries, along with spicy touches of wild shrubs and pepper. The palate is full-bodied, oily-rich and balanced, with the fruit notes reappearing on the after-taste and a slightly incisive varietal flavour. A very pleasant, silky-smooth wine.
Aged in tank on its lees.
